General Announcements
- Latest Aleo blog post: Aleo Token Economics has been released
- Based on updates to the difficulty algorithm and the PoSW mining process, we are requiring all nodes update to snarkOS v12 by December 28, 2359 UTC. This is a REQUIRED network upgrade, and we’ll choose a block hash on/around that time which must be included in your ledger at the end to be eligible for rewards. Note that currently snarkOS v12 has not been merged into the
testnet2 branch, so no action is needed immediately. However, we just wanted everyone to be aware that this update is coming next week so they can make necessary preparations. Main changes will be
- Changing the current
bitcoin_retarget algorithm to ASERT. You can see the work being done on that in the feat/retarget-ema branch in snarkVM. The ASERT algorithm is documented here.
- Removing the zero-knowledge component of the
prove_with_terminator function in snarkVM to prevent egregious grinding of the PoSW SNARK.
- We’ve received lots of applications to set up mining pools. We should have responded to everyone with the specific requirements, if you have not heard back from us please email [email protected].
- Note that there will be no community calls next week, but updates will still go out as planned.
