General Announcements

• As previously mentioned, we're upgrading snarkOS to v12 on a clean block 100,000. In human terms, that will happen at approximately 2359 hours PST, Tuesday, 28 December 2021. PLEASE either manually pull the latest version of snarkOS, or run the provided script (which will update automatically). This update includes a transition to the new difficulty algorithm, as well as a bugfix to PoSW in snarkVM that we mentioned in the last update.
• The feat/mining-pool branch ins snarkOS is in final stages of testing and should launch at the end of the coming week. The GPU miner implementation is scheduled to release the week after that.
• For those that celebrate Christmas, I hope everyone had a happy holiday weekend.

Community Updates

• Due to the holiday season there will be no ZK Salon, Aleo Community Call or snarkOS Engineering Standup this week.
• Community Call #10 will be next week on Wednesday, January 5th at 1pm EST. If you are available we highly recommend you join.
• Aleo Ambassadors Program will be launching the week of January 2nd. A blog post will be release prior to the official launch. Joining the program is a great way to get involved in the community and help grow the ecosystem. During Community Call #10 we will share more in-depth details on the program.
• Leo Programming Contests will also be launched around the same time as the Ambassadors Program. By participating in the contest you can compete to win prizes and recognition in the community.
• The Aleo Discord Server is currently being revamped and changes will be enacted during the first or second week of January. We will update the community once changes are made.
• If you are interested in competing for the Mining Pool Bounty please send an email to [email protected] expressing interest. We will send you further instructions on how to submit a pool. The first three pools that meet our requirements will receive Aleo Credits.
• We are continuing to process contributors for the browser version of the Inner Setup Ceremony. When it is your turn to contribute you will receive an email with instructions. Only individuals that signed up via our Typeform are eligible. We are no longer accepting requests to fill out the form.
  • If you didn’t have the opportunity to make a contribution to any of the the three setup ceremonies during Phase 1, you will have the opportunity to contribute during Phase 2. Once Phase 2 has launched we will share details with the community.
  • [ATTN] If you made a contribution to the browser setup ceremony and were NOT asked to save your key pair, enter your email address and/or tweet your attestation, please send a DM to Nick | Aleo on Discord so he can help you troubleshoot. Some contributors had issues entering this information. You MUST provide an email address in order to receive your NFT.
• If you would like to fix bugs and/or implement new features in snarkOS and/or snarkVM to receive Aleo Credits during the incentivized testnet, please check out our recent blog post. Any contributions that get merged will be eligible for 500 Aleo Credits each.
